The Intova Compact Waterproof Digital Camera, in my opinion, is a great value, the best underwater camera for $105. I used it on 2 dives (so far as low as 40ft) and took a lot of video (included video of schools of fish) on the 1st dive. Also used for snorkeling and used stills and video as well. One of those dives was an underwater cavern, in addition, the strobe I used with the camera worked pretty well. Obviously, I had a chance to compare to a professional grade camera, and the difference in quality of pics and video is substantial, but, those cameras are at least $1,200 or more. I think, for my purpose, and the average user, this is a fine camera. One word of advice, use Lithium batteries. Alkaline batteries would run out after about 50 pics worth of testing. The lithium batteries never ran out, and that was after 2 dives (with stills ; video), snorkeling with turtles (stills and video), and many land stills and video.
I would recommend this camera.

I gave this camera brief test on the beach of Fort Lauderdale. I had only one issue with it....the LCD Screen is nearly impossible to see in full sunlight. I started out with it on its dimmer setting hoping to preserve the batteries, but quickly discovered I couldn't see anything on the screen. On my next re-entry to the water, I changed it to its brightest setting. Then, I could tell that it was on, and what mode it was in, but still couldn't see the thing I wanted to photograph.
Despite that minor drawback, it takes beautiful pix and movies, never leaked, and never lost battery power.
I think many people's complaints about very short battery life or suddenly losing power may be due to an undocumented power-saver feature I discovered. Several times I thought the camera had shut itself off, but when I pressed the power button to turn it back on, I found I was turning it off. What was happening was that the LCD went blank after about a minute of non-use making me think it was powered down. Once I discovered this, I found that you merely need to press the shutter button to bring the display back.
In all, I certainly feel I got my money's worth and would recommend this product.
